I agree that people tend to over-react to microscopic issues such as the (in-the-past) use of the UDID to remotely register how often an app was opened, etc. But if I got a message from the app developer when I opened an app, there's a strong possibility that it would seriously creep me out. You need to be careful with this sort of thing.
