It's another tool to allow you insight into how your users are using (or not using) your product. Analytics help you see who is doing what, how often, or not doing something as often as you think/hope. They help you to determine what problems you are solving for your users and if you are creating problems. They allow you track the results of A/B testing (some apps behave differently based on random number, so marketing to review response to different behaviours.)
It's a way of doing "hallway usability testing" in the field.
I can't honestly think of an app worth downloading that wouldn't benefit from such information being available for analysis.
