[iphonesb] Re: App Marketing Advice

Hi Raj,

First, don't pay any blogger or web site to review your app - this is a waste of money (and ethically questionable). Keep in mind that most people who will contact you for promoting your app will be scammers.
Next, have a great app icon and name (a professional designer should do the icon). Have a great app; your best marketing is word of mouth. If you have a paid app, also release a free app with limited features or make the paid app free for some time. If you're in for the long term, you should focus on getting people downloading your app and not care too much about the generated revenue at first.
You can try to use a PR service (like prMac.com) to get the word out; this will help increase the page rank of your web site and if you are very very lucky some website will review your app (but probably only scammers will contact you).
For the rest, see Sylvain's answer, search the web for tips and most of all keep experimenting - every app is unique and the right way to market it can only be found by experimenting.

Cheers,
David

Hi Everyone,

I am going to release a new iPhone App in the next two weeks (waiting for Apple review). I am looking for some sound advice on how to effectively market the app in the crowded app store. We already have a FB page and a website. We are also developing a animated video for promotion. I have read a lot about it online. It is very difficult to even get your app reviewed by a reputed blogger/company without shelling out $$$. I have a boot strapped startup and can't afford any big budgets. Any help will be greatly appreciated. You can email me separately if you like so that other folks are not disturbed (sandi...@gmail.com).

Regards,

Raj
