[iphonesb] Re: Going in with co-worker to make game need business advice

You have received some really good advice here. Benjamin has some really sound advice. I went into business with my husband years ago. At the time, we were happily married. When we weren't happy anymore, there were no signed agreements and no clear path out. Even with someone you think is your soul mate things can and will go wrong. Write up an agreement before going any further. If the two of you are not good at communicating about what you need and how to make it happen, then do not enter into a business agreement. I am currently in an agreement with another person who is instrumental in getting the graphic end done. We agreed on a 70/30 division. As the developer, I get 70%, he gets 30%. We both think this is fair, so it is fair for us.

I've already created the core mechanics for a game and have a working prototype. A co-worker of mine is an artist and I want to bring him in to do the art. This could be a long term business relationship of me doing the game design, software development and him doing the art, game design, and business( he also has a MBA ).

I'm curious to know if this sounds like a perfect 50/50 split profit situation or does one side usually get a higher percentage and these situations?

I'm also curious to know what things I should think about when starting this business relationship so that I don't get screwed down the road. Not necessarily by this guy, because I do trust him, but by anybody else if this relationship doesn't pan out.

Thanks
